"they (Bill Burke Trio) cook like a master chefs with driving percussion and Burke's exceptionally melodic leads...It's jazzy enough to appeal to jazz fans but...has enough punch and power to connect with rockers." - Erie Times-News.
"The melodic progressions of the guitar pull you up out of the rhythmic beat of the drums, to hover above it all in a dream-like space, before diving back in to interweave through the beats from the drums. The musical happening that occurred here...is one nobody involved is likely to forget." - Danielle Andes, Examiner.com.
A wildly gifted musician and new master of the 8-string guitar, Bill Burke is an innovator in both technique and style. Bill plays the 8 string guitar using a unique two-handed tap style method which allows him to play multiple parts at the same time resulting in layered audio splendor, similar to piano.
The Bill Burke Trio revisits The Winchester Music Hall in celebration of their March 2011 album release, "One." Bill Burke is joined by percussionist Joel Polacci and drummer Norbbie Gavin.
Together, The Bill Burke Trio lifts off like a jet for exciting, rhythmic instrumental jams and journeys. Several songs on the album "One" flat-out smoke like three-alarm fires, while others are more laid back...jazzy, dreamy, ethereal.
The Is What It Is Trio's music draws from trance, dub, electronica, gospel, jive, jazz, funk and soul. Melodic beauty, meaningful simplicity, harmonic structure, tasty licks & deep, stone grooves take this trio to the next level.
The Is What It Is Trio's bassist Stephen Trohoske has performed & recorded with such artists as: Christian Howes, Dwayne Dolphin, Corey Wilkes and many more. Guitarist Ian Smith is well known for his work with Ota Benga & Monstro. Drummer Kenny "Stix" Thompson has played with to many to mention including Preach Freedom from Rusted Root & many large Gospel ensembles.
