John S Pyke Jr. looks at the northwestern corner of Lakewood during the last half of the nineteenth century. After the Civil War, it was almost annexed by the City of Cleveland as a recreational park. By the end of the horse and carriage era, it had developed into a planned community and has retained its unique character for more than a century.
