The Public Safety Committee will meet Monday, November 5, 2012 at 5:30 PM in the Jury Room of Lakewood City Hall, 12650 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio. The following items will be discussed. All items received their first reading at the 10/15/12 Council meeting.
1. Communication from Law Director Butler regarding the following 14 ordinances designed to harmonize the City of Lakewood traffic Code with the State of Ohio traffic code.
2. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 50-12 – Add or amend definitions to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code. Definitions include Beacon, Hybrid Beacon, Highway Traffic Signal, Intersection, Median, Private Road or Drive and Traffic.

3. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 51-12 – Amend exemptions for emergency, public safety and coroner’s vehicles to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
4. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 52-12 – Amend and expand language on traffic signals and pedestrian signals to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.

5. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 53-12 – Make technical language change on “U” turns to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
6. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 54-12 – Enact prohibition on unreasonable noise from a car stereo to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
7. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 55-12 – Add certain financial penalties pertaining to damages caused by operating vehicle under the influence to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
8. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 56-12 – Amend penalties for driving without a license, possession of more than one license, and wrongful entrustment of a motor vehicle to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
9. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 57-12 – Amend penalties for failure to display license, for driving under suspension of license, and driving under OVI restriction to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
10. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 58-12 – Amend penalties for driving under certain license suspension, cancellation, or without complying with requirements of license reinstatement; Add certain financial penalties pertaining to damages caused to vehicle collisions with an unattended vehicle, to realty, or to public or private property other than a street to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
11. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 59-12 - Enact penalties against driving under license forfeiture or child support suspension to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
12. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 60-12 – Amend definitions of proper vehicle equipment and amend penalties for violations of proper vehicle equipment including windshields, sun screening, and bumpers to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
13. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 61-12 – Amend and clarify the maximum height and width requirements of motor vehicles and recreational vehicles to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
14. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 62-12 – Amend and clarify the criminal offenses related to operating a motor vehicle to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
15. PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 63-12 – Amending restrictions upon drivers holding a temporary motorcycle permit to require helmets, prohibit passengers, and prohibit travel under certain conditions to conform to changes in the State of Ohio traffic code.
