The Other Wes Moore: A Community Conversation

The Lakewood Community Relations Advisory Commission, in partnership with the Lakewood Family Collaborative, the University of Akron Lakewood and Lakewood Alive, is hosting a Community Conversation on the book, The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates.  This discussion will take place on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., at the University of Akron Lakewood, 1415 Warren Road.

The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates  is the story of two kids with the same name, living in the same city. One grew up to be a Rhodes Scholar, decorated combat veteran, White House Fellow, and business leader. The other is serving a life sentence in prison for felony murder.   The Other Wes Moore  tells the story of a generation of boys trying to find their way in a challenging and at times, hostile world.

Panelists for this discussion will include Dr. Ronnie Dunn, Associate Professor of Urban Studies at Cleveland State University, Mary Hall, Administrator for the City of Lakewood Division of Youth, Michael Ryan, Cleveland Municipal Court Judge and recently elected to the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Juvenile Division, Mark Brauer, Vice President for Youth Services at Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry and students from Lakewood.  The group will examine some of the central themes of the book.  The discussion will include a question and answer session.
