Fire Breaks Out At Lakewood House Over Weekend

LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood Fire Department crews battled a house fire on Thoreau Avenue over the weekend.

On Saturday, crews were called to the 1300 block of Thoreau after spotting smoke billowing into the sky. When firefighters arrived they discovered the fire had spread through the second floor of the home and into the attic.

According to police call records, the fire was reported at about 6:30 p.m. The fire was under control by 8:30 p.m. According to Lakewood police, the house was occupied at the time of the fire but no one was hurt.

It is not yet clear how the fire was started, but investigators believe the flames started on the second floor of the double home. Crews used multiple lines to suppress the fire.

No people were hurt during the fire, but two pets died in the blaze, according to a post from Lakewood Firefighters Local 382, the group also shared video of crews responding to the fire.
