Firefighters Battle House Fire In Lakewood
Two cats were treated for smoke inhalation but no humans were hurt during the blaze.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood firefighters battled a blaze at a home on Alger Road on Tuesday evening. The flames caused about $65,000 in damage, according to Lakewood Fire Chief Scott Gilman.
The fire happened at about 6:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Alger Road. When firefighters arrived there was heavy smoke billowing from the residence.
The fire was blazing in the attic, Gilman said. Two Lakewood fire trucks were used to combat the blaze and the fire was contained in the attic.

Two cats were hurt in the fire and both the felines were taken to a veterinarian by the residents, Gilman said. No human residents or firefighters were hurt during the fire. Damage to the home is estimated to be about $65,000.
Investigators are still looking into how the fire started.
