4/5, free public-education, lunch, Drone Technology, memorial quilts. Monthly film-series.
"Imagine Peace" task force will host a free, multimedia, public-education forum regarding the Drone Technology that has been developed for national-and-international business, government, and the military. The public is invited to attend part or all of the forum. The event, entitled "Drone Teach-In," will be held on Saturday; April 5, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church ("West Shore church"), 20401 Hilliard Boulevard, Rocky River, which is a few blocks west of the I-90/Hilliard exit. Parking includes the West Shore church-lot and neighboring Church-and-street areas. West Shore church-entrances are accessible to personal-care equipment.
The forum-schedule includes the following: Interfaith panel-discussion. Wide variety of workshops during the morning and afternoon. (Example: "Drones: the Good, the Bad, the In-Between," presented by Veterans for Peace. Attendees may select two workshops.) Keynote presentation by nationally-known guest-authoress, Medea Benjamin. Table-displays regarding Social Action and Free Trade. Several national-tour "memorial quilts." A free, "light" lunch will be provided, before the keynote-speaker's presentation.

The "Drone Quilts Project" includes several national-tour quilts of collective art, as memorials, regarding casualties of combat-drones. The quilts were displayed at Plymouth Church, Shaker Heights, from 3/17 through 3/28. The remainder of the display-schedule includes the following: West Shore church, 3/30 through 4/6, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Lakewood Public Library, 15425 Detroit Avenue, from 4/8 through 4/30. Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The displays are free and open to the public.
On Saturday, 3/8/2014, "Imagine Peace" and "Social Action" task forces, of West Shore church, sponsored the documentary-film "Unmanned: America's Drone Wars"--as part of the free, monthly "Film Series." The film-events address a wide variety of Social Action, Community Service, and Education issues. For the film-event on Saturday, 4/12, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the documentary-film "Miss Representation" has been selected. The film includes notable interviews and statistics, regarding "Mainstream Media" portrayals of women and girls. A discussion and refreshments will follow the film. No reservations are required.
