LAKEWOOD, OH — Flames tore through the basement of a home on Wyandotte Avenue on August 20. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze in the lowest levels of the house, but the home is now uninhabitable. A fundraiser has been launched to help the displaced residents.

A GoFundMe campaign set up for the Zingale family has raised more than $7,000 over the past week. Organizers are hoping to gather at least $10,000 to help the family.

"The home is currently uninhabitable and the Zingales are left without many necessities to get through, especially with the new school year starting. The family has lost many things throughout the home including clothes, food, medication, furniture, household belongings, electronics, wedding decorations (her oldest is getting married next month!!), etc.," organizer Angela Incorvaia wrote on the GoFundMe page.

Fire Chief Scott Gilman told Patch last week it wasn't clear what sparked the fire. He said then investigators were just beginning to look into the cause of the flames.

None of the Zingale family, or their pets, were hurt by the fire.
