Get An Inside Look At Lakewood's Police Department

The 12-week Citizens Police Academy is a unique opportunity to understand the challenges facing men and women in blue.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Residents have a unique opportunity to peek inside the Lakewood Police Department. The city's Citizens Police Academy is now accepting applications for participants for the next 12-week session.

The Academy is open to Lakewood residents and people that work in the city. Participants must be at least 21 years old and interested in learning more about the police. There is no fee for attendance.

During the Academy, students will take part in a variety of sessions, led by a number of different speakers. Participants will familiarize themselves with the policing issues in Lakewood. Mayor Mike Summers and members of the city's law department will also address attendees.

Participants in the Academy can also schedule a one-evening ride-along with a Lakewood officer.

The next Citizens Police Academy starts Thursday, January 10, 2019 and continues through March 28, 2019. The sessions are held Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
