Gov. Shutdown: Action Center Reaches Out To Furloughed Workers
Government employees needing temporary assistance can contact Lakewood social service agency.

From The Action Center: As the Federal Government shutdown enters its second week, The Action Center is open and ready to help furloughed government employees with resources they may need to carry them through the uncertain future.
βWe know that many furloughed government employees may be facing a variety of difficulties while they wait for their next paycheck,β said Executive Director, Pam Brier. βThe Action Center is here to ease the stress and financial strain that is no doubt created by this unforeseen break in income for many members in our community.β
The Action Center provides year-round assistance to residents of Jefferson County or those experiencing homelessness. Services include food, clothing, rental and utility assistance, as well as other support services that may help maintain stability.

All of the organizationβs services require an appointment, which can be made by calling 720-215-4850 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday β with the exception of Monday, December 31st from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesday, January 1st when the organization is closed for the holiday. Same day appointments may be available.
For those in need of rental assistance, please call 720-407-6712 and those in need of utility assistance, please call 720-407-6674. Please listen to the message and follow the instructions closely. If qualifications are met, a navigator from The Action Center will call back and make follow-up arrangements.
