Help Pass Out Food To The Vulnerable In Lakewood
The city's Department of Aging needs volunteers to distribute food throughout the city.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The Lakewood Division of Aging is looking for volunteers to help deliver meals throughout the city. A spokesperson for the department said that volunteers don't need to make a major commitment, they can drop off meals once a week, or once a month.
The program requires roughly one hour a week, starting at 10:30 a.m. Volunteers pick up bags of food at 16024 Madison Avenue and then hit the route.
"I always tell people that you may not be able to deliver meals, but you probably know someone that could deliver the meals," said DeDe MacNamee-Gold, Lakewood Division of Aging.

MacNamee said the department can make accommodations for volunteers. For example, if a volunteer is unable to drive, the department will give them a route that is within an apartment building. Another example of the department's flexibility: a team of people will rotate to share part of a week or month of deliveries.
To learn more about the program, and to volunteer, call the Volunteer Services Office at 216-529-5005.
