Help Your Child Cope With Anxiety During Lakewood Event

An upcoming event will teach parents how to spot signs of anxiety, how to get their children to talk about their feelings, and more.

LAKEWOOD, OH - Anxiety is increasingly common in our 21st century lives. At least 40 million adults, or 18 percent of the population, currently suffer from an anxiety condition, according to the National Institute of Mental Health.

The condition of anxiety can begin in childhood and that's why the Lakewood District Family Resource Coordinators, with the help of Connecting for Kids, is hosting "Parenting the Anxious Child" on March 21. From 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grant Elementary, parents will learn how anxiety emerges in children, tactics for dealing with the condition, the likely causes, and how to help your child express their feelings.

Child care will be made available, the district says. You'll need to RSVP for the event to get child care. If you have questions you can contact Jeanne Harvan, 216-529-4226.
