Here's Lakewood's 2020 Street Improvement Plan
The city is targeting several streets for resurfacing and other improvement projects this year.
LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood has announced which streets will be undergoing resurfacing, pavement marking and other improvement projects this year.
The city awarded a $2 million contract to Shelly Company Northeast to complete the work, according to a post on Patch by City Councilperson Jason Shachner. He said their bid was the most competitive.

- Athens (from Brown to Bunts)
- Bayes (from Warren to Brown)
- Daleview (from Riverside to McKinley)
- Delaware (from Arthur to Alger)
- Forest Cliff (from Lake Ave. to Northern Terminus)
- McKinley (from S. Marginal to Riverside)
- Parkside (from Lake to Northern Terminus)
- Ridgewood (from Franklin to Detroit)
- Wagar (from Madison to Detroit)
Crews will also remove and replace guardrail on Donald, French, Lakewood and Victoria.The Lake Ave. bicycle lanes, citywide stop bar, crosswalk and roadway epoxy striping will also take place this year.
Construction should start on these projects on July 13 and continue through Oct. 20, weather permitting. Work will take place in phases, so not all streets will see construction on July 13.

"The contractor will post ‘No Parking’ signs at least 24 hours prior to the start of construction. The contractor will control the project phasing and be responsible for the street during all activities, and will maintain responsibility for all aspects of scheduling, safety, traffic control and security," according to a notice sent to Lakewood resident.
In a letter to residents, the city said it understand these projects may disrupt life, but officials will be available to discuss any problems which arise.
"We understand that street construction projects, while necessary, create inconveniences for the residents. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during the construction and will make every effort to minimize the inconveniences and accommodate your concerns. A representative of the City of Lakewood will oversee construction activities and inspect the work. If you have an urgent need, you can call this office at 216-529-6692 and we will have the inspector either call you or visit your home, depending on your needs. If you have special medical or handicap needs, please call us prior to the start of the project so we may appropriately address access to your property."
