Holiday Meals Being Delivered By Lakewood Group

The Lakewood Charitable Assistance Program is asking residents for non-perishable food items.

LAKEWOOD, OH — More than 300 Lakewood residents enjoyed a full Thanksgiving meal thanks to the Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corporation. Now the LCAC is asking for donations of non-perishable goods for December meals.

"Thanks to hundreds of volunteers of all ages, Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corporation’s
Thanksgiving food basket distribution was an incredible success!" a spokesperson for LCAC said. Now the organization is gearing up for its December distribution.

Non-perishable food items are being accepted at Emerson, Garfield, Harrison, Lincoln, Grant, Roosevelt, Harding and Lakewood City Academy schools. Residents can also drop their food items off at Lakewood Hardware.

Residents that want a more hands-on experience can volunteer Dec. 15 to help the LCAC sort the canned food donations prior to home deliveries. The service event is open to all ages.

The sorting will take place at the Lakewood Masonic Temple, 15300 Detroit Ave. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the food donations are sorted and prepped for bagging. Then, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., non-perishable food bags are filled.

Volunteers can also help out Saturday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. when perishable food is bagged and all items are prepared for delivery. From 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. drivers will deliver food baskets to 300 Lakewood houses.
