“I believe that Lakewood’s residents are our city’s greatest resource and I look forward to hearing from voters to learn how City Council can better serve their needs. My wife and I chose Lakewood as our home because of the city's walkability, parks, schools, and, most of all, its strong sense of community," Shachner said.

He added that his campaign will focus primarily on promoting quality of life in Lakewood and safeguarding the city's reputation as a place to start young families.
"Lakewood is positioned to become the destination to start a business or grow your family. I will use my legal training and experience in public service to make City Hall responsive to the evolving needs of our neighbors," he said.
Current Ward 2 City Councilperson Sam O'Leary announced his own campaign last week — a campaign to become mayor of Lakewood.
