Lakewood Announces Next Fire Chief

LAKEWOOD, OH — Fire Marshal Tim Dunphy will become the next Fire Chief of the Lakewood Fire Department, the city announced on Friday. Dunphy will become chief on October 1, 2019.

"Fire Marshal Dunphy brings a wealth of talent, experience, and commitment to protecting our citizens and advancing the performance of our Fire and Emergency Medical Technician first responders” said Mayor Mike Summers. “His concern and desire to serve Lakewood is apparent in each and every element of his being.”

Lakewood has always been home to Dunphy, a graduate of Lakewood High School. He started work as a firefighter and paramedic in Lakewood in 1992 and became Fire Marshal in 2011.

Dunphy will replace current Fire Chief Scott Gilman upon the latter's retirement. Gilman has been the city's Fire Chief since 2011, the same year Dunphy became Marshal, and has worked in Lakewood for 38 years. He has more than four decades of firefighting experience.
