Lakewood Businesses Can Apply For Express Parking Spaces
With pick-up service more important than ever for businesses, many shops are looking for express parking spaces.
LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood businesses can apply for temporary express parking for pick-up and drop-off.
"The current circumstances surrounding COVID-19 have increased an already growing demand for short-duration “express” parking zones as many businesses along our commercial corridors have added pick-up/drop-off oriented services as a way to adapt to physical distancing and other measures related to the pandemic," city officials said on the Lakewood website.
The city has established guidelines for businesses that want to apply for express parking.

- Spaces must benefit multiple businesses, not a single shop
- Express parking is limited to one on-street parking space within the block (meaning one space on each side of the street between cross-street intersections)
- If approved, the express parking space will be in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- Express parking designations can be revoked at any time by the director of public safety
- Express parking designations are reserved for businesses without parking lots, or shops where using a lot for pick-up/drop-off might threaten employees or customers
Applications for express parking spaces should be sent to the Lakewood Department of Planning. More details on how to apply for a space can be found on the city's website.
