Lakewood Businesses Honored By Chamber Of Commerce

The chamber is giving out three awards for best small business, businessperson of the year, and outstanding new member.

LAKEWOOD, OH β€” Three business awards will be given out on Friday to members of the Lakewood community. The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce will give out the 2017 Outstanding New Member, Business Person of the Year, and Small Business of the Year awards. The ceremony will be held at Vosh Lakewood.

The Outstanding New Member for 2017 is Amy Collins, the co-owner and co-founder of Dish Dash, which organizes walking tours of Lakewood. Collins is also on the Taste of Lakewood committee, serving as the chamber's liaison. Collins also helped to obtain a ton of items for the chamber's annual online Holiday Bid & Buy Auction.

The chamber's 2017 Business Person of the Year is First Federal Lakewood's President and CEO Thomas Fraser. As a student at St. Edward High School, Fraser used to walk by First Federal Lakewood every weekday on his way to school. Now he's leading the company and helping it increase its role in the community.

Finally, the 2017 Lakewood Chamber of Commerce's Small Business of the Year award will go to GV Art + Design, a creative boutique that specializes in original artwork. The company, located on Detroit Ave., has gained national attention, getting featured on SportsCenter, TNT, MLB Network, Jimmy Kimmel, and ESPN, NBA.com, and Sports Illustrated.

The company started the "Cleveland That I Love" campaign in 2009. The company has worked with professional athletes and teams throughout the nation, and the boutique's work is featured in stores throughout Northeast Ohio.

GV Art + Design opened a retail studio in 2014 on Detroit Avenue, a second location in downtown Willoughby in 2015, and a third store in the former Rose & Sons Antiques building in Lakewood.

The luncheon will also see the chamber honor its past presidents, long-term members, along with the three award recipients.
