Lakewood Carjacker Sentenced To Prison For Stealing Lyfts
Prosecutors said Devon Dale and his accomplices stole a truck and an SUV from two ride-share drivers.

CLEVELAND — Devon Dale was sentenced to a decade in prison for two separate carjackings in Lakewood and Cleveland. Both victims were driving for the ride-sharing service Lyft at the time of the carjackings, prosecutors said.
Dale requested a Lyft on Jan. 22, 2019. The ride was to pick him up near Woodland Avenue and Morris Black Place in Cleveland. When the driver arrived, Dale and another person walked toward the car, pulled out a gun, and demanded the keys to the truck.
The driver got out of the truck, was pushed to the ground and then Dale and his partner drove away, prosecutors said.

About 90 minutes later, Dale requested another ride through Lyft. This time, he set the pick-up point on a residential street in Lakewood. The driver took Dale and his accomplices to a dog park on Valley Parkway. When they arrived, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and demanded the driver's SUV.
Dale was taken into custody on Feb. 6 by Strongsville police. Officers charged him with receiving stolen property after he was found in a stolen car, unconnected to the two carjackings.
