Lakewood Charity Basketball Tournament Set For April 8
The 17th Annual Lakewood DARE Unit basketball tournament for fifth graders will see students from seven elementary schools ball out.

LAKEWOOD, OH - If you're in fifth grade and love basketball, there's a tournament coming up for you. The Lakewood Police Department's DARE Unit annually puts on a basketball tournament for fifth-grade students. This is the 17th straight year the tournament has run.
The tournament will be held April 8. The first game will be played at 9 a.m. and the championship game will be played at 2 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend. The games will be played at Harding Middle School, 16601 Madison Ave., this year.
The tournament is composed of seven teams, each from one of Lakewood's middle schools. The teams are coached by volunteers (either staff members from the schools or parents). T-shirts are provided to all the teams and their coaches via donations from Lakewood businesses.

According to the city, Lakewood Police will be partnering with the Lakewood Community Services Center and collecting donations of money, non-perishable food items and hygiene products between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. during the tournament.
Those items will then be donated to the Lakewood Community Services Center. If you bring a donation, you're entered to win a prize.
