Lakewood Community Comes Together to Search for Missing Dog

A group of caring Lakewood citizens help search for local dog, Remmy, who went missing from his Edwards Avenue home in early December.

While most of us spent these last few weeks huddled inside our warm cozy homes, Lakewoodite Beth Lacher and family have been frantically searching for their beloved dog, Remmy, since he disappeared from their Edwards Avenue home on December 2. If you’ve been out and about you’ve undoubtedly seen his posters up on nearly every corner light post throughout Lakewood – β€œsmall, 12 lb wire hair terrier mix, black white tan, 10 years old. Blue and orange collar with his license tag. Monetary reward if found.”

Although it’s been over a month since Remmy has gone missing, the outpouring of love and support from the local Lakewood/WestPark community is keeping Beth going through this extremely difficult ordeal. She received such an outpouring of support that she decided to start a Facebook Group called β€˜Remmy’s Friends’ to help organize flyer distribution and search parties. This amazing group of about 20 local volunteers continue to post Remmy notices and updates on various social media sites, spend their downtime searching areas where he was last spotted, and are even going door to door passing out flyers in hopes someone has seen Remmy. On the outpouring of support from her local community, β€œIt really is just nice that all of these people have cared enough to even think about him. This whole ordeal has just been so hard. I'm stuck in this terrible grief. The unknown is just torture. All these years and love and suddenly he's just gone. My daughter was just singing a song about him coming home, out of nowhere, on the way to school and now I can't stop the tears. It just helps to think that if others were in this situation, they might feel the same way, too.” The outpouring of love and support from her hometown of Lakewood is just one of the many reason Beth loves our city. She would like to thank everyone who has helped in the search effort thus far and is hopeful that Remmy will soon find his way home.
