Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today:
- The Lakewood Community Health Needs Assessment Report, which "identifies strengths and weaknesses in relation to the social detriments of health," was recently released. Lakewood has partnered with the Healthy Lakewood Foundation, Three Arches Foundation, and the Center for Community Solutions to create a healthier future for the community. Loren Anthes, project lead with the Center for Community Solutions, said, "The next phase involves an action plan, wherein the city and its partners will look to residents to once again identify how to address the needs of the community." - LakewoodAlive's 15th Annual Spooky Pooch Parade will take place on Oct. 15 at Madison Park in Lakewood's Birdtown neighborhood. From 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., there will be a celebration of costumed canines and family-friendly fun. Registration is now open, pet owners can sign up their dogs for the costume parade. - Lakewood City Schools Superintendent Maggie Niedzwiecki was "pleased" with Lakewood's recently released report card from the Ohio Department of Education. In the new system, public schools and districts are measured by stars, with one star representing the lowest performance and five the highest, in five categories.
