Now, today's weather:

A shower and thunderstorm; humid. High: 83 Low: 74.

Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood:

  1. Two Lakewood donut shops were named among the best donuts in Greater Cleveland, according to Yelp. The Vegan Donut Company, located at 14811 Detroit Ave, came in at the top of the list, claiming the No. 1 spot. The Donut Pantry, 14600 Madison Ave., earned the ninth spot on the list. (cleveland.com)
  2. More Northeast Ohio communities, including Lakewood, are set to dial into the regionalized dispatcher debate. On the heels of North Olmsted approving the hand-over of its 911 dispatch duties to a regionalized response center, Bay Village, Fairview Park, Lakewood, Rocky River, and Westlake are considering following suit. The change would mean emergency calls are routed through the Chagrin Valley Dispatch Center, more than a dozen miles away. (News 5 Cleveland WEWS)
  3. LakewoodAlive has announced the return of the Spooky Pooch Parade! The 15th annual parade consists of a free-to-attend festival at Madison Park, a parade along Madison Avenue and surrounding streets, and an awards presentation. The event returns to Madison Park in Lakewood's Birdtown neighborhood on Oct. 15 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Parade registration opens on Aug. 24. (Lakewood Observer)
