Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today:
- SmithGroup has been hired by Lakewood to conduct a feasibility study on enhancing access to Lake Erie, following an increase in water sports and recreational activities in the area. The study is being partially funded by a $77,230 Ohio Department of Natural Resources Coastal Management Assistance Grant. The international architectural, engineering, and planning firm will lead the city through public-input gathering sessions to explore options for enhancing lake access beyond the initial pier proposal. - Rozi's Wine House in Lakewood will host a happy hour benefit on Apr. 6 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, with 10 percent of store sales and $1 from each pour donated to the charity. The fundraiser will be held in memory of Katie McNally, who passed away from leukemia in December 2022. McNally's sister Lauren is currently running a 10-week campaign for the nonprofit, raising funds for patient and caregiver support such as hotel, mileage, gas, and other concerns related to cancer treatments.
