Lakewood Extends Leaf Pick-up Indefinitely
The city says that a late clearing of the trees and an early snowfall led to the decision.

LAKEWOOD, OH - The city has decided to push back its leaf collection deadline indefinitely. The program was scheduled to wrap for 2016 on Dec. 16, but due to a late leaf drop and quick snowfall, officials decided to expand the scope of the program.
With inches of snow on the ground and temperatures plunging below freezing, leaf collection may not immediately hop to your mind, but it could impact your parking in the city because residents are being asked to not park on a street when Leaf Collection signs are posted on utility poles, so crews can collect whatever remains of the leaves.
The city is also asking that you refrain from pushing your leaves into the street. When leaves hit the asphalt of the street, it can cause problems for snow and ice control efforts, as well as leaf collectors.

“We will work in leaf collection as much as possible between storm events until the leaves are collected,” said Chris Perry, city arborist and manager of the division of streets and forestry, in a statement. “City crews will be out in force when weather conditions permit leaf pick-up.”
At this point in the season, crews have already made two passes through all of Lakewood. They've also hit Clifton Boulevard, Lake Avenue, and the Clifton Park Neighborhood three times (due to high leaf volume).
