Lakewood High School Varsity Cross Country Wins Conference Meet

The team won the Southwestern Conference Championship Meet on Oct. 15 at Lorain County Community College.

LAKEWOOD, OH - It was a long run, but the Lakewood High School varsity boys' cross country team has finally crossed the finish line and they did it with a bang. The team won the Southwestern Conference Championship Meet on Oct. 15 at Lorain County Community College.

The JV boys took second place in their division.

According to the school, leading the way for the Rangers was 1st Team All-Conference senior Henry Bish in 5th place. Earning 2nd Team All-Conference honors were juniors Joe Burtzlaff (9th) and Evan Budzar (11th). Rounding out the scoring for the Rangers were seniors Tysaun Blevins (17th), Micah Swartz (21st), Gunnar Stockman (22nd) and sophomore Joseph Toole (35th).

Scoring for the varsity division was: Lakewood 63, Avon Lake 75, Avon 83, Westlake 105, Amherst Steele 114, Berea-Midpark 141, Olmsted Falls 151, North Ridgeville 175, North Olmsted 241, Midview 323.

Said Coach Stephanie Toole: "Winning Conference was a goal set as a team and it took each and everyone of these guys to achieve this goal. Coach Jackson and I are very very proud of ALL these young men."
