Lakewood Hospital Goodbye Walk-Through Scheduled
Say goodbye to the departing building during a late September event.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Tours of the soon-to-be-demolished Lakewood Hospital site will take place September 27. The walk-through of the building is meant to ease political tension in the city and give residents a chance to honor the legacy of the hospital site.
Walk-throughs will take attendees through the emergency room, the hospital atrium, and then the plaques by the auditorium. Due to remediation work, other parts of the building are not currently open. Tours will take place every half-hour, starting at 5 p.m. and ending at 6:30 p.m.
"We are going on a guided walk of parts of the hospital that are safe and accessible today. This will not include tours of any hospital rooms. Again we apologize for this inconvenience," Ward 3 Councilman John Litten said on the event's Facebook page.

The tours of the building were organized by Litten after months of work. He first broached the idea of doing tours at the building in early June. He told Patch then that it was important to honor the "legacy" of the building.
People planning on attending the tours should RSVP for which time works best for them. RSVP's can be made on the event's Facebook page.

Attendees are being asked to park at street meters on Belle and Marlowe. Members of the city's planning and development staff will be on-hand to assist with the tours and organize attendees outside the hospital.
