Lakewood Looking For Crossing Guards

The city is looking for crossing guards to man crosswalks throughout the city starting in August.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The city is looking to hire crossing guards to monitor crosswalks for the 2017-2018 school year. The positions are part-time, working approximately two hours a day. The pay is $13 per hour.

To get the job, applicants will need to be 18, have a high school diploma or GED, and pass a physical examination. The exam will include a drug screening and a police background check. Crossing guards must also be able to work outdoors in all weather (rain and snow included, and likely).

Hired guards can expect to work approximately 185 days a year, from the end of August through the beginning of June. New guards will get training and all equipment will be provided.

Most guards will work for one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon. There are paid winter and spring break days for crossing guards.

“This is an ideal part-time job for a parent with a child in school, someone who’s retired, or someone looking to make a little extra money,” said Lt. Roger Warner in a statement.
