Lakewood Man Shoots Girlfriend, Then Commits Suicide
Police are investigating after a 23-year-old man apparently turned a gun on himself after he shot his girlfriend.
LAKEWOOD, OH — A 23-year-old Lakewood man killed himself early on Friday morning, police said. The man shot his girlfriend before shooting himself.
The shootings took place at about 2:30 a.m. on Friday. That's when Lakewood Police got a call from a man on Olivewood Ave. saying the 23-year-old had just shot his 21-year-old girlfriend. The caller said the man had run out of his home on Olivewood after shooting the woman.
Police rushed to the scene. They saw the 23-year-old in the backyard of a neighboring home. Then they heard a gunshot. The 23-year-old had apparently shot himself in the head.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The 21-year-old girlfriend was taken to Metro Health Medical Center. She is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office has been contacted and police are continuing to investigate the incident.
