Lakewood Mayor Meghan George Endorses School Levy
Mayor Meghan George gave a ringing endorsement to the upcoming school levy for the Lakewood City Schools.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The Lakewood City Schools will ask voters to pass a 4.9-mill levy during the March 17 primary. Before residents head to the polls, Mayor Meghan George issued a plea to Lakewood voters to support the levy.
"As a third-generation Lakewood resident and proud alumna of Lakewood Schools, I am proud to support Issue 28. I am grateful for the education I received as a student and wish for future Rangers to have that same high-quality experience. Voting for Issue 28 on March 17th will make that possible," George said in an open letter to the community.
The levy would cost residents less than $2 per month, for a home valued at $100,000. The levy would be divided between current operating expenses (3.9 mills) and general permanent improvements (1 mill).

George said that prior to embarking on a political career, she worked as an educator. She said that experience gave her a deep appreciation for public schools and how they influence success for children.
The mayor also argued that passing the upcoming levy would allow Lakewood Schools to expand mental health services for all students, expand STEM classes, recruit teachers and keep learning materials up-to-date.

"I believe that strong schools mean a strong community. The basis for vibrant neighborhoods, strong housing values, and overall economic development is a strong education system. Issue 28 supports Lakewood families and our community by enabling the best possible educational outcomes for our students. Everything I do as Mayor remains focused on ensuring that Lakewood is one of the best places in the country to live. Issue 28 supports this effort," George said.
