Lakewood Schools Hire IT Administrator

LAKEWOOD, OH — The Lakewood City Schools have hired Brent Kallay as associate director of information technology. He replaces the departing Paul Hieronymus.

“I am excited for the opportunity and look forward to being part of the Lakewood Schools,” Kallay said at the Board of Education meeting where his hiring was approved. Kallay begins his new position on August 1, 2019.

Kallay comes from the Mayfield City Schools where he gained experience in both classroom instruction and technology integration. His career in education started in the Painesville City Schools, where he was an elementary teacher and then a middle school teacher. He joined the Mayfield Schools in 2014 and began focusing on technology.

"Brent has great experience implementing the latest educational tech tools into the classroom and we believe he is the right person to guide us in our efforts to continue to be on the leading edge of 21st century learning," said Superintendent Michael Barnes told Patch.

While at Mayfield, Kallay led professional development programs for staff members, focusing on Infinite Campus, a student record management system. He also worked with Google Apps for Education and various teacher websites.

Kallay also installed wireless access points, printers, computers and monitors throughout the district. He also handled yearly updates of desktop computers and laptops and installation of state testing software.
