Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood:
- Lakewood High School senior William Yeung officially graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University before receiving his high school diploma. Yeung earned his associate's degree as a sophomore through the Ohio College Credit Plus program. Lakewood High School Principal Mark Walter said, "William's accomplishment is remarkable and one that has never been done at Lakewood High School." (cleveland.com)
- Lakewood Park's Foster Pool and Madison Park's Becks Pool are set to open and officially kick off the summer. Becks Pool will open on Jun. 1 and Foster Pool will open on Jun. 8. Lakewood City Schools Community Recreation & Education Department Coordinator Leslie Favre Krogman said she's optimistic that the pools will see a return to pre-pandemic levels of 60,000 annual visitors. - Northern Ohio Violent Fugitives Task Force agents arrested a 25-year-old man wanted for kidnapping by an Eastlake policeman in a Lakewood home on Tuesday. The suspect, also wanted for aggravated assault by Wickliffe Police and felonious assault by the Painesville Police Department, was found on Ridgewood Avenue. His name is being withheld until formal charges are filed. (News 5 Cleveland WEWS)
