LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood will begin charging drivers who utilize the city's electric vehicle charging stations.

The city will charge $0.24 per kWh at all stations starting March 1. Officials settled on that rate as a way to cover the cost of "electricity used and to support the maintenance and upkeep of our electric vehicle charging equipment," the city said in a statement.

Additional fees could be incurred at the charging stations if a driver uses the station for longer than usual. There is a four-hour limit at Level 2 charging stations and a two-hour limit at Level 3/DC fast charging stations.
