Lakewood Summer Meltdown 2020 Canceled due to COVID-19 Pandemic

In an effort to ensure health and safety for members of our community, LakewoodAlive has canceled Lakewood Summer Meltdown 2020.

Virtual Meltdown 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run & Walk Takes Place July 15 - July 31

In an effort to ensure health and safety for members of our community, LakewoodAlive announces that Lakewood Summer Meltdown 2020 has been canceled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sponsored by Melt Bar and Grilled, the Summer Meltdown serves as one of the region’s most anticipated street parties. In April, LakewoodAlive rescheduled the Summer Meltdown for August in hopes of being able to safely orchestrate a scaled-down version of this free community event. Since then, however, it has become increasingly clear that hosting an event the magnitude of the Summer Meltdown would pose a health and safety risk to attendees, volunteers, vendors, staff and the community as a whole.

“After extensive discussions with our many stakeholders, including the City of Lakewood, we have made the decision to cancel Lakewood Summer Meltdown 2020,” said Ian Andrews, LakewoodAlive’s Executive Director. “Ultimately, ensuring the well-being of our community must always be our top priority. We look forward to having the Summer Meltdown return in the future, and are excited to keep the spirit of this festival alive through offering the Virtual Meltdown 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run & Walk.”

Registration is open for the Virtual Meltdown 5K and Virtual 1 Mile Family Fun Run & Walk taking place July 15 to July 31. This popular centerpiece of the Summer Meltdown will be orchestrated as virtual races this year, offering participants the unique opportunity to celebrate summer safely while continuing this long-held tradition.
