Lakewood Teacher Cleared Of Wrongdoing In Emerson Incident

Superintendent Michael Barnes said an allegation against the teacher was thoroughly investigated and found him innocent.

LAKEWOOD, OH — In late August, Lakewood School Officials told the public an allegation of misconduct had been leveled against an Emerson Elementary School teacher. This week, Superintendent Michael Barnes said the teacher was cleared of wrongdoing and will return to work.

"In this instance, as with any allegations of staff misconduct, we followed our standard protocols and procedures. A full, thorough investigation was conducted by the Lakewood Police Department and the county's Children's Services. The allegations were found to be wholly unsubstantiated and the staff member will return to duty," Barnes said in an email to parents obtained by Patch.

The teacher was placed on leave when the allegation was brought to school officials. It is still unclear what the allegation was, and both Lakewood School officials and Lakewood Police did not respond to requests for comment from Patch on the matter. We do know that a parent reported the alleged incident to police.
