LAKEWOOD, OH — Grant Elementary School teacher Margaret Gerard is currently in Pyeongchang, South Korea. She's there supporting her cousin, Olympic snowboarding slopestylist Red Gerard. Much of the Gerard family made the long trip to the 2018 Winter Games.
Red won the United States' first gold medal of the Pyeongchang Olympics in men's slopestyle snowboarding. In the final round, he bounced from 11th place and into the lead with a dramatic run.
Several viewers of the games reported seeing the teacher on live TV. The school district said on Facebook that it is currently looking for a clip from the event to share with students and local families.
