Lakewood's Architectural Board Of Review Needs New Member

Want to help determine which businesses will come into the city? This is your chance.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The Board of Building Standards and Architectural Board of Review needs a new member. The term for the appointee would end Dec. 31, 2019. The candidate would need to be selected by Lakewood City Council.

The five-person Board, which currently has only four members, considers proposals for commercial and residential properties, reviews applications for variances (changes to standard city building codes), and reviews sign proposals. Meetings are held once a month. The last meeting was Sept. 7. The next meeting is Oct. 5.

Applications will be reviewed by the city's planning department and then passed on to city council for review, said Alex Harnocz, Lakewood's city planner. (Subscribe to the Patch Lakewood newsletter for local news and updates.)

Applicants have to be residents of Lakewood and be able to contribute whatever hours are necessary to review plans that come before the Board.

"Generally people who serve on the board have professional experience in the field. All of our current board members are architects or designers and have practical and professional experience in the field," Harnocz told Patch.
