Lakewood's Melt Bar And Grilled Opening New Locations

LAKEWOOD, OH - Melt Bar and Grilled will be opening its 13th location in Avon, Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen said on Twitter. Jensen said the restaurant would replace Bar 145 at 35546 Detroit Rd. However, Melt has not publicly confirmed the opening of the restaurant.

The Chronicle is reporting that Melt has signed a lease with the city to take over the Bar 145 space. Melt apparently signed the lease on Monday.

Melt was founded in 2006 by Matt Fish. The first location was in Lakewood, Ohio.The restaurant's focus was on gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. After starting as a local curiosity, the restaurant grew into a regional powerhouse with a dozen locations throughout Northeast Ohio. The Avon location would represent the 13th restaurant for the growing chain.

Fish did not immediately return Patch's request for comment on Jensen's announcement.

The opening of an Avon location would come hot on the heels of Melt's expansion into Dayton and Cedar Point. The Cedar Point location is slated to open May 26 and the Dayton location will open June 12, according to a statement on Melt's website.

Notably, the Cedar Point location will feature a specialty item not available at other Melt locations, Firecracker Chicken, a "red-hot combination of spicy fried chicken, sweet grilled pineapple, cool fresh avocado, and pepper jack cheese," Melt says.
