LAKEWOOD, OH — State Representative Nickie Antonio will run for Ohio Senate in 2018. She intends to target a seat in District 23, a seat set to be vacated by term-limited Democrat Michael Skindell.
“I am excited to announce that I intend to run for the State Senate and continue to stand up and work hard for the people of the 23rd Senate District," said Antonio at an announcement event last week. “I pledge to continue to fight for state funding to return to Northeast Ohio for good jobs and schools where our children can be successful to prepare for 21st century jobs. With your help, we can have healthy thriving, communities with fairness and equality for all and together we can move forward, creating an Ohio that everyone can be proud to call home."
Antonio has represented District 23 for seven years. She plans on fulfilling her last term in the Ohio House of Representatives. She is currently the Minority Whip for the General Assembly and the highest-ranking member of the Health Committee.
