Lakewood's Sweet Spot Closing September 29
The owners said they were both "sad and excited" to finish their tenure in Lakewood.

LAKEWOOD, OH — After nine years in business, The Sweet Spot will close permanently on September 29. The shop announced its closing on Wednesday.
"We are both sad and excited about this, but look forward to new adventures," the owners of the Sweet Spot, the Blau and Cleary families, said on social media. All gift cards, loyalty points and coupons will be accepted at The Sweet Spot through September 29.
Celeste Blau confirmed the closing with Patch. She said she's eager to spend more time with her children, a 1-year-old and 3-year-old. The two children have been accompanying her to work recently.

"I want to be able to take my kids swimming or to the park," Celeste said. With her parents looking to retire and her brother and husband working full-time jobs outside of The Sweet Spot, it was time to close the shop. That doesn't mean the family won't remember it's time on Detroit Avenue.
"It’s been a lot of fun getting to know the customers, being part of the community," Celeste told Patch. "People have had wedding rehearsals here, baby showers, first birthday parties. It's been amazing getting to see these kids grow up. Kids who were nine when we opened are now graduating high school."

The Blau and Cleary families first announced their departure from The Sweet Spot in June. However, they initially hoped someone would step forward to take over the business. The owners said they wanted to step away from the business to spend more time their own families.
"We have loved celebrating with your families - weddings, birthdays, babies, good health and new beginnings. We've loved watching your children grow up. But now it is time for us to step away and spend time with our own family and watch our own children grow," the families wrote in a post on June 3.
