Leaf Collection Starts November 4 In Lakewood

Two streets will have separate collection days because of the sheer volume of leaves accumulated in the area.

LAKEWOOD, OH — A burst of fiery colors adorn Northeast Ohio trees this time of year. While foliage is beautiful in the fall, the trees also cover lawns and sidewalks in leaves. To help residents, the city will start fall leaf collection on November 4.

Leaf collection will continue through December 13, weather permitting. Officials said they would like to make three passes through the city during this year's leaf collection season. Residents will want to have their leaf piles formed early so crews can collect. Leaves must be raked no more than 6-feet from the curb because crews will be using a vacuum system for collection.

Due to the sheer number of leaves on Clifton Boulevard and Lake Avenue, the city will schedule separate pick-ups for just those streets. Collection on Clifton and Lake will begin November 11, with additional pick-ups starting November 25 and December 9, weather permitting.

"Parked cars hamper leaf collection efficiency and some leaf material may get stuck under and around parked cars. If large leaf piles are blocked by parked cars, we will post individual no parking signs and attempt to collect them at a later date – cars may be towed if necessary, after posting," the city said on its website.
