Madison Park becomes connected as free Wi-Fi switches on

The free Wi-Fi blankets most of Madison Park allowing high speed access to the world wide web.

Last summer, Lakewood launched public Wi-Fi in Lakewood Park. This year, it's Madison Park's turn. The free Wi-Fi blankets most of the park allowing high speed access to the world wide web. While most people will connect their cell phones, nearby freelancers, students, and anyone else who regularly does work on a laptop will appreciate the change of scenery and make Madison Park their office away from home.

To join the network open your wireless capable device and connect to the network named "Madison-Park-Guest." There are no passwords or login screens, just connect and surf!

My experience with the Wi-Fi

In my tests, the Wi-Fi reached maximum download speeds of 37mbps and upload speeds of 21mbps. At these speeds, watching HD videos on YouTube, Skype conversations, and photo uploads are a breeze.

The Wi-Fi range covers the park well with no dead zones near seating areas. I did experience slower speeds under the pavilion, most likely due to the metal roof, but I was still able to watch lag-free HD videos on YouTube. The fastest speeds were closest to the skate house central to the park though Taste of Lakewood will be happy to hear that the second best speeds were in the southeast parking lot where the event takes place.
