Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Coming To Lakewood
The State of Ohio announced that GTI Ohio received two licenses for dispensaries on Madison and Detroit avenues.

LAKEWOOD, OH — GTI Ohio has received two licenses for medical marijuana dispensaries in Lakewood. The prospective dispensaries would be located on Madison and Detroit avenues.
One of the prospect dispensaries would be located at 11818 Madison Avenue, while the other would be located, approximately, at 18607‐18609 Detroit Avenue.
The Lakewood dispensaries are two of 56 dispensaries throughout Ohio. There were more than 376 applications to receive a license.

The dispensaries will be able to sell marijuana to eligible patients, Fox 8 said. All of the applicants had to get a background check and a verification that each dispensary was at least 500 feet away from a school.
In addition to the state regulations on where a dispensary may be located, and how it operates, the city of Lakewood adopted its own ordinances governing the prospective businesses. To learn more about what rules the city has established, click here.

"The intent of this high [licensing] fee and controlled zoning approach is to let the market limit the demand for such services in our community. It also sets the template for future laws and trends that we are likely to face," Mayor Mike Summers told Patch in October 2017, when the ordinances were voted on. "I am confident this new ordinance is a very good start. As is the case with most laws, they can and should be improved with experience."
