Meet Lakewood High's 3 National Merit Commended Scholars

These students placed among the top 3 to 4 percent of test takers in the nation.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The highly competitive National Merit Scholarship Program has recognized three Lakewood High students as some of the top performers in the state and nation. Seniors Nicholas Cleary, Timothy Daso, and Andrew Sheldon have all been named Commended Scholars.

Commended Scholars earn their designation through competition on PSAT scores. That means more than 1.6 million high school students, from 22,000 high schools, enter the National Merit Scholarship competition each year. That's a lot of competition.

Students take the PSAT their junior year. Commended Scholars must place among the top 3 to 4 percent of PSAT participants.
