Meghan George Announces Bid For Lakewood Mayor

LAKEWOOD, OH - Councilwoman Meghan George will run for mayor of Lakewood

"Lakewood deserves top notch representation, especially at the executive level, and I believe I am the best candidate for the job,” George said on Sunday evening.

A lifelong resident of Lakewood, with political bloodlines in the city, George said she intends to run a grassroots campaign. She said her campaign would focus on public safety, development of the city's commercial corridors, retaining and improving the value of housing stock and more.

George is currently an At-Large member of city council. She touted her legislative work with replacing the pit bull ban and her proposal for paid parental leave for city employees.

"I hope to build on the community support I’ve received while considering this decision. I’m running for mayor to continue serving the community which I’ve called home all of my life, in a way that will make the biggest difference," she said.

In her day job, George consults with executive teams on human resource issues. She is a graduate of Lakewood High and The Ohio State University.
