Meghan George Sworn In As Lakewood Mayor
In a ceremony on Jan. 1, Meghan George became the new mayor of Lakewood.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The transition is official. Meghan George is now the mayor of Lakewood.
In a ceremony held in Lakewood City Council Chambers, George was sworn in as the city's mayor. "Thank you residents of Lakewood. I am honored by the faith you have shown in me and I am ready for the work ahead," she said in a statement posted to social media.
George replaces the departing Mike Summers, who decided not to seek re-election. In a tightly contested competition in November, George bested fellow Lakewood City Council member Sam O'Leary to become the city's next mayor.
