Melt Bar & Grilled Helping Fight Hunger In Ohio With New Campaign

The restaurant chain is already spearheading the End Hunger In Lakewood program, now its leading a donation campaign for food centers.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Starting Friday, and continuing through Sunday, customers at Melt Bar and Grilled are being asked to "round up" their bills. The extra money paid to Melt will be donated to Food Banks in Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Dayton and Columbus.

The Lakewood-based company said its "round up" campaign will see matching donations from Melt, and Absolut will also donate $1 for each Gobbler Sangria cocktail feature, or Absolut cocktail that is ordered throughout November.

One week later, on November 10, a coalition of 35 restaurants, led by Melt's Matt Fish, will take part in the "End Hunger in Lakewood" campaign. Participating businesses will donate 10 percent of their day's sales to the work of the Lakewood Community Services Center (LCSC).

"I am honored to be part of this amazing restaurant community," said Fish. "Learning that 14 percent of Lakewood's population lives at or below the poverty line and relies on receiving emergency food came as a shock and compelled me to reach out to my colleagues to help in any way we can."

Roughly 6,500 Lakewood residents are food insecure, meaning they do not know where their next meal is coming — or if it's coming at all. Between 1,800 and 2,000 Lakewood residents receive free, emergency food from LCSC every single month.
