Melt Bar And Grilled's Lakewood Re-Opening Delayed
The "winter that would never end" has delayed construction at the iconic restaurant.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Grilled cheese lovers will have to wait a little longer than expected to quench their craving for Melt Bar and Grilled in Lakewood. The iconic restaurant's grand re-opening has been delayed until May 4 due to construction problems.
“Unfortunately, construction and delays go hand in hand,” says Matt Fish, owner and founder of Melt Bar and Grilled. “No matter how much we plan out our construction, there’s always the possibility of some unforeseeable thing throwing a monkey wrench in the gears. This cold and wet April certainly hasn’t helped our schedule but we’re still super-excited about all of the awesome upgrades and changes happening to the Lakewood location to make sure it is up to our standards of excellence!”
The original Melt location in Lakewood was opened on a small budget. With success coming in waves for Fish and his chain of restaurants, he felt it was time to revamp his original location. The Lakewood location was shut down on April 1 for construction.

“For me, closing the Lakewood location to bring it up to our current standards is kind of sending a child to summer camp,” says Fish, “I miss it every day but I know when everything is said and done and it comes back better than ever, it will all be worth it.”
The kitchen will be completely gutted and re-built with a new floor, walls and ceiling. There will also be two, new first-floor bathrooms, a new host stand area, a new server station, new exterior back entrance area, new Melt signage on the back of the building and other cosmetic updates to the bar and dining room.

“We’re excited to open the doors again,” says Fish, “and this renovation project will create an even greater Melt Experience for our longtime supporters and new friends alike. The Lakewood location is incredibly special and I hope we operate in that building for the next 50 years or more!”
The grand re-opening celebration will include an exclusive Melt-themed T-shirt designed by CLE Clothing Company, Melt wooden coasters designed by Foundry Woodprints and other exclusive swag. The celebration will start at 11 a.m. on May 4.
