'Meteor Shower' Debuts At Beck Center April 3

The Steven Martin-penned play tells the story of two married couples' transformations.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Legendary comedian and actor Steve Martin's play "Meteor Shower" will debut at the Beck Center for the Arts on April 3. The production tells the story of two married couples and their extreme transformations.

"Meteor Shower" first premiered in 2016 at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. The play was later performed on Broadway in 2017. The original production starred Keegan-Michael Key, Laura Benanti, Jeremy Shamos, and Amy Schumer, who was nominated for a Tony Award for her role.

“You can almost feel the author's presence in the room when you are working on a Steve Martin play. His comic sensibilities are just slightly askew… but that's what makes Martin so unique," said Beck Center Artistic Director Scott Spence. "He thinks nothing of bending time to serve his purposes…and you must always be ready to accept the absurdly unexpected — even when he sets things up to be as normal as normal can be. It's always a great roller coaster of a ride with more laughs per minute than should be legally allowed.”
