Mural Art Project Accepting Applications In Lakewood

The city said it wants to enhance its corridors using creative art displays.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Calling all artists! The city of Lakewood is looking for applicants for the 2018 Lakewood Art Mural Program, which is designed to spur private investment in public art projects that will "enhance" local corridors.

The project is known as the Lakewood Art Mural Program (LAMP). The hope is that the art projects will provide a sense of character to Lakewood neighborhoods while increasing home values.

"In addition, public art: enhances our experience of a place and our quality of life; engenders a sense of pride and community identity; reaches audiences outside of museums, galleries and theaters; adds beauty to everyday life; declares the worth of a place and a time in our shared cultures," the city said on the project website.
